Coffee Distributing Corp. is up and running after being closed for the past two-and-a-half days in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. We have received and packed all of your orders from last Friday through last night, and we hope to deliver to every office that is open to receive us. Our trucks are inching their way around Long Island and towards New York City.
With the loss of mass transit and many traffic lights, roads are even more congested and dangerous than usual. The trucks that left our warehouse before 6AM still hadn’t made it over a bridge and into Manhattan several hours later. We understand as well as anyone that a “caffeine emergency” is a true emergency, and we are making every effort to serve our customers.

In Union, New Jersey, our facility is operating without power, but we did open the warehouse this morning to dispatch most of our routes. We attempted to contact clients ahead of time to determine who is open. The devastation in certain parts of New Jersey is horrifying.

The vast majority of our staff have lived the past several days without electricity, and many expect to be without power for several more days to come. Many have horror stories of flooded out homes and vehicles. But we were encouraged to be able to come back into work, get a hot cup of coffee, see one another, and know that everyone survived the storm. The way our staff communicated during the disaster, and pitched in to keep an eye on our buildings and vehicles, is something to be very proud of.

We are staffed and operating out of our Garden City Park headquarters, with electricity and Internet. Unfortunately our phones are currently down, so we are doing our best to reach out to our customers via cell phones to spread the word that we are open. Orders can be transmitted via our website, or by emailing [email protected]. Repair requests can be emailed to [email protected]. You may be able to get through to us using 516-248-3549 — our one working phone line for the time being.

We thank all of our staff, suppliers, and customers for their patience during this difficult time. The worst is behind us and we are open for business!
