Celebrating Women’s History Month: Early Bird Foods & Co.

This Women’s History Month, we are proud to recognize Early Bird Foods & Co., a women-owned company founded by Nekisia Davis. What began in 2008 as a homemade granola recipe quickly grew into a beloved artisanal food brand known for its distinctive flavors and carefully crafted products. Davis originally developed the recipe while working in the Brooklyn restaurant industry, experimenting with ingredients at home before sharing the granola with friends and coworkers, which quickly encouraged her to turn it into a business.

As the brand gained popularity, Early Bird granola developed a loyal following. Early supporters included notable food writers and media figures, helping introduce the product to a wider audience and establish it as a staple among artisanal breakfast and snack options. Over the years, the company expanded its offerings with several signature blends, such as Farmhand’s Choice and Jubilee, while maintaining its commitment to small-batch production and high-quality ingredients.
Today, over 16 years in business, Early Bird Foods & Co. continues to embody the spirit of independent food entrepreneurship. As a proudly women-owned and operated business, the company reflects the creativity and dedication of its founder while delivering products designed to elevate everyday breakfast routines.

Through thoughtful craftsmanship and bold flavor combinations, Early Bird remains a standout example of how passion and innovation can turn a simple kitchen experiment into a thriving food brand.
