Alterra Barista’s Blend Replacing Flavia Intense Dark Roast
We are officially sold out of Flavia Intense Dark Roast, and it is no longer being manufactured, anywhere. But the news is not all bad! Alterra Barista’s Blend is the suggested replacement for Flavia Intense Dark Roast lovers.
This is the first product transition in our Flavia-to-Alterra conversion process, but over the coming weeks, we will be running out of stock of each Flavia coffee and tea packet on a rolling basis, and transitioning our customers to the new Alterra coffee and Bright Tea.
Barista’s Blend happens to be one of the most exciting new coffees for the Flavia single-cup brew system. Not only is it Arabica coffee (Intense Dark Roast contained inferior Robusta coffee), but Barista’s Blend is also Alterra’s first 100% Rainforest Alliance certified coffee. Concerned about sustainability? This is the coffee for you!
If you were a fan of Intense Dark Roast, we encourage you to also try the other new Alterra coffees in the “Dark and Intense” category. The blends are similar to the Flavia you are used to, but not identical — so you may find that you have a new favorite. Alterra’s “Dark and Intense” coffees are: Sumatra, Espresso Roast, French Roast, and Barista’s Blend.
As a guide, please note Flavia’s new system for categorizing coffee strength. Gone is the 7-bean “strength rating” from the old Flavia packets, replaced with descriptive categories, written on each Alterra packet: Light & Smooth, Medium & Balanced, Medium & Bright, Dark & Intense.
